LOOKING FOR AN OUTDOOR ADVENTURE?
Lagganlia Centre for Outdoor Education provides an idyllic environment for those wanting the highest quality outdoor education, or for individuals, families and groups looking for an outdoor adventure activity break or simply a quiet weekend away in the peace, tranquillity and beauty of Cairngorm National Park in the heart of the Scottish Highlands.
THE AREA
Set in stunning and remote Glen Feshie between Aviemore and Kingussie,
the centre nestles into the western edge of the Cairngorm Mountains, one of few
remaining wilderness areas in Europe. The region is steeped in history with
ruins, castles, and standing stones to marvel at and explore. We are only 20
minutes drive from the nearest ski centre at Cairngorm and are well situated
for day trips to Loch Ness, Skye, Fort William, and Royal Deeside.
The location of the centre is spectacular, poised on the banks of the River
Feshie with the backdrop of Creag Mhigeachaidh ('The Whispering Mountain').
Salmon and trout run in the clear waters of the Feshie, and we are often
visited by deer, red squirrel, osprey and other wildlife. We are surrounded by
nature reserves, forests, lochs, and mountains.
ATTRACTIONS
In addition to the activities above, the area boasts an abundance of other
visitor and tourist attractions. These really are too numerous to mention all
of them but include The Highland Wildlife Park, The Landmark Visitors Centre,
The Highland Folk Park and Museum, Ruthven Barracks, Iron Age forts, chairlift
trips up the mountains, journeys on the steam railway, the reindeer herd,
Glenmore Forest Interpretation Centre, distillery visits, Culloden Battlefield,
excursions to see the Moray Firth dolphins, The Loch Ness Monster Exhibition
Centre, and many more.
Despite our remote setting we are easy to reach from the A9 and can be reached
by road from Edinburgh or Glasgow in a little over two hours. Lagganlia sits
roughly halfway between Kingussie and Aviemore, shopping is only about 8 miles
away if you still have some energy left at the end of the day!
