Lagganlia offers a comprehensive calendar of training in outdoor education. This programme is aimed at those who are seriously considering a career in outdoor education.  The aim is to develop the student's teaching experience in various adventurous activities so that they can progress from basic instructing skills to running sessions at a high professional standard.  Towards the end of their placement, it is expected that the trainee will be able to take on the role and responsibilities of group instructor for some activities.

Student Instructor Program
Once a year , we accept students onto our 'Student Instructor Training Course'. This is a        12 month placement with us, during which time students have an opportunity to work alongside experienced staff.  We provide training opportunities customised to the specific needs of each student.

Students are expected to work towards a Scottish Vocational Qualification (level 3), in addition to collecting a wide variety of National Governing Body Awards.

We provide full board and accommodation and in return we expect students to commit themselves to work with us for the 12 month period, including covering some evening duty sessions.

Our usual intake onto this course is at the end of August each year, however places may be available at other times of the year.
