Basic Expedition Leader Award

This is the entry level award for leaders taking groups for walks and camping
expeditions in the countryside. The award is eminently suitable for leaders
wishing to help train and supervise Duke of Edinburgh Awards in easy
countryside. There is considerable emphasis on navigation and group leadership,
with at least two overnight camps during the course.
Leaders should have a little previous personal walking and camping experience.
Continuous assessment is employed.
Cost: £420 residential
Summer Mountain Leader Award (Training)
April 2005 dates to be arranged.
This award is the key award for people wishing to lead groups in the hills in
summer.
Candidates must already be registered with the Scottish Moutain Leader Training
Board and have logged the pre requisite experience.
Training will take place in the magnificent Cairngorm mountains and will follow
the SMLTB syllabus.
Single Pitch Award
19th to 20th May 2007
This course covers the syllabus of the National Award, which has been designed
to give a basic level of competence for those who are in a position of
responsibility when supervising and introducing novice rock climbers on single
pitch crags and climbing walls. Alongside safe group management you will learn
to supervise and encourage others to enjoy their climbing safely whilst also
developing good personal climbing skills and techniques for yourself.
Candidates should be registered in the scheme with the MLTB and registered
members of the BMC prior to arrival.
Cost: £110 non residential
An Introduction to Ski Mountaineering
By arrangement ( minimum of 4 people)
Are you already an experienced winter hillwalker? Can you already ski at
intermediate level? Want to try ski mountaineering under the supervision of
qualified and experienced staff? This could be the course for you!
