Mountain Biking
Trail Cycle Leader Training
5th to 7th Sept 2006
£180 residential plus registration fees £120 non residential plus registration
This two day course provides the base for leaders who wish to lead simple off
road cycle tours. There is a pre-entry requirement that leaders can show
evidence of at least 20 personal mountain bike trips. The course covers
personal skills, simple emergency repairs, navigation and group leadership.
Candidates are expected to become members of the Scottish Cyclists Union. There
is a separate 1 day assessment at a later date. Candidates will need to hold a
first aid certificate by the time they come to be assessed.
Mountain Bike Leader Assessment

This is a one day course. Candidates should have already attended the mountain
bike leader training course, be a member of the SCU and hold a valid first aid
certificate. Assessments will take place on both days and you should indicate
your preferred date. Residential accommodation and food will be available at
extra cost.
Mountain Bike Leader Training

This award is appropriate for leaders who wish to run mountain bike trips on
technically demanding terrain or trips in remote countryside.
This two day course is available only to candidates who have alreay completed
the Trail Cycle Leader Training course. The course covers advanced skills and
can be strenuous.
There is a separate one day assessment at a later date.
Mountain Bike Leader Expedition Module
By arrangement
This two night self-sufficient expedition is intended for leaders who wish to
take charge of multi-day trips that are entirely self-contained. This course is
physically demanding and is for experienced mountain bikers only. The pre-entry
requirements are that you already hold the trail cycle or mountain bike leader
award.
